Pinky
Madison Yardumian
Words
drizzle over the palm trees
like a smile
Pinky orange trickling
onto treetops
I hear the boom
of sunset
Dusty purple oozes peach
and I wonder
if time will bring out
more of me
or less
A green twinge bites my sky
so the trees become
forsaken fingers
I feel them melt into an outline
huddled together
like shaky hands
I know this is the end
That
this
moment
will
seep
to
ash
I watch an airplane pretend to be a star
drizzle over the palm trees
like a smile
Pinky orange trickling
onto treetops
I hear the boom
of sunset
Dusty purple oozes peach
and I wonder
if time will bring out
more of me
or less
A green twinge bites my sky
so the trees become
forsaken fingers
I feel them melt into an outline
huddled together
like shaky hands
I know this is the end
That
this
moment
will
seep
to
ash
I watch an airplane pretend to be a star
Maddy is a super senior at Scripps. When they're not writing poetry, you can find them singing with their a cappella group, drinking large, caffeinated beverages, and struggling to finish their senior thesis.
